mimir: matt's a lawyer so he wants to see things brought to justice in a peaceful way. he uses words and past experiences to bring people that deserve peace, peace.

tyr: matt has been called the man without fear. he's got courage out the wazoo.

(choosing this one) heimdall: i think this one fits best. matt is a vigilante and is loyal to hell's kitchen. he often calls the little chunk of manhattan "my city."

Personality: Matt is too much like his father. He enjoys inflicting violence and he doesn't know when to stay down. He's an idiot in a mask, basically. He doesn't inflict pain on just anyone, they have to be wrong. They have to have slipped through the tightest laws. Matt started to be a vigilante because of a little girl he couldn't save as a lawyer. Matt himself has a soft spot for children, since he had such a rough time growing up. He knows what it's like, kids. Latchkey kid who lost his parents. He knows. But Matt's way of doling out violence... he smiles when he fights. He loves the rush. His grandmother said that the Murdock boys have the devil in them.

Matt is an excellent attorney, which is a combination of studying and his enhanced senses (if you can hear a heartbeat, you can detect a lie). He's a little on the cocky side. As time goes on, he stops relying on the law (and Foggy's plans to use the law) and starts relying on brute force. He loves Foggy, he does. That man is his heterosexual life mate, going from his college best friend to being the first person to find out he's Daredevil. Foggy always comes back to him, no matter how many times Matt pushes him away, shoves him away, throws him away. Matt's not a great friend. He believes in doing anything it takes. ANYTHING IT TAKES. Which includes treating your friends like shit. Matt's a real asshole.

He was raised Catholic, and sometimes that gets in the way. He has a complicated relationship with God. Sometimes he doesn't think God is there. Sometimes he thinks he's doing God's work when he puts on the Daredevil costume. Thou Shalt Not Kill-- Matt has a strict code of not killing the bad guys. He will certainly put them in the hospital for several weeks, make them eat out of a tube, but he won't kill them. This almost gets tipped over when Fisk gains too much control over the FBI. Karen is able to tell him that she's killed before, and it changes you. He actually listens. He tells Fisk he won't let Fisk change him.

When Matt teams up with the Defenders, he's the most "normal" one of them all. He doesn't have super strength, a glowing fist, or bulletproof skin. He can hear neon and can't stand cotton sheets.

He's a nice guy, though. Very amiable. A good lawyer, one who often would accept casseroles for payment. He believes in helping those who cannot help their selves. Matt himself might even see himself like he's God's agent, if not God himself. But they call him the Devil of Hell's Kitchen.
